Tree Swing

Picture
It seems so quintessentially childhood: a huge bear of a tree with dozens of gnarly thick branches fit for climbing and tying ropes to.

How many children have swung from your branches, giddy with excitement?

How many laughs, smiles, moments of care-free youthful joy have you witnessed?

Hundreds? Thousands?
You're synonymous with summer, happiness, innocence.

You're interchangeable with the warmth of the sun on bare shoulders, the cool taste of lemonade on parched lips, the smell of freshly picked berries.

You're evocative of a picturesque snapshot of home, family, comfort, love.

Yet, you're an unfamiliar concept to so many children in this world.

In an effort to explore my own artistry and creative output, I have given myself a challenge to respond with sound, words and visuals to my favorite subject: trees.
