A thin veil of peach mixed with lemon curd yellow spread across the sky. Interwoven were thick streaks of lilac and deep blue cream puffs of clouds. A colorful array of warmth and calm set a back drop thousands of miles away from what stood within arms reach: a dense nest of treetops, their branches shaking gently in the evening breeze.
The trees' arms looked like charcoal: strong, thick, black against the night sky. They reached in all manners of directions poised in balletic stances; their leafy fingers tickling one another as the night air made them dance. These dark sentinels towered above with grace and purpose, keeping guard of the advancing blanket of darkness that would soon swallow the earth.
